Experience the glories left by the British Raj -experience an Indian train then drive to Manali.  After idyllic days in your homestay we leave on the remote road safari to high-altitude Ladakh & The Nubra Valley up near the Karakoram Pass where the camel caravans used to pass, laden with silk and cotton.  Bactrian camels now roam free and you can take a ride.    

Unique times especially for you:  While living amongst Indian Himalaya Hindu Mountain People be welcomed into their village homes. On a remote road safari visit Kinnaur and Spiti and cross the Greater Himalaya to Ladakh 'Little Tibet' -to explore Forbidden Temples and the ancient, mysterious lands of the North.  In Leh bustling bazaars will enthrall you.  Add on a trip to the Taj Mahal and Rajasthan after flying back to Delhi.

Bring your grandchild to India for leisurely day walks, local involvement and adventures from Robin's own homestay base high in the Indian Himalaya -Koshla village close to Vashist, Manali in the Himalaya state of HImachal Pradesh  Follow this with a remote road safari camping two nights en route to cross over the Himalaya from south to north enroute to Leh in Ladakh. before flying back to Delhi and on to Agra.  Grandchildren must be over 11 years old.  Robin's grandson will be 12 years old at this time.  So come and join us on an adventure.

The Indian Mutiny occurred in 1857.  This road and rail tour gives you an appreciation of the terrible events and difficulties experienced by both sides involved so long ago, yet still so real in the Indian experience.  Experience Shimla and Mussorie both important Himalaya hill stations, Agra with theTaj Mahal and Varanasi.  You will visit mutiny sites of historical significance in Delhi, Meerut, Lucknow, Cawnpore and Kolkata (Calcutta) The essence of Varanasi is the early morning bathing on the ghats and you will be on the River Ganges to watch the ritual.  As a contrast take in the mountain air and relax in the Himalaya hill stations of Mussorie and Shimla where the British Raj enjoyed the high life and located their Summer Capital.
